The 2026 UMGPS By-Election and Referendum will begin on June 29, 2026.


The positions available include:

  • Vice-President, External Affairs & Senator

What students will vote on

At least 5% of eligible voters must participate for the referendum results to be valid.

Election of the Vice-President External Affairs & Senator
WUSC Fee Referendum:
This referendum concerns a non-opt-outable fee of $1.56 per semester to support WUSC, effective beginning September 2027.
World W.I.S.E. Fee Referendum
: This referendum concerns a non-opt-outable fee of $0.26 per semester to support World W.I.S.E., effective beginning September 2027.

The UMGPS Election Forums are a great venue for you to listen to each candidate speak on student issues.

The Election Forum is open to all graduate students and is a chance for YOU to ask the Candidates any questions you have about their plans for the 2026/27 term, before casting your vote.

  • Nomination Period: June 29 – July 10, 2026
  • All Candidates Meeting: Friday, July 10, 2026 – 5:00PM
  • Pre-Campaign Period: June 29 – July 26, 2026
  • Campaign Prep Period: July 13 – 26, 2026
  • Campaign Period: July 27 – August 2, 2026
  • UMGPS By-Election Forum: July 27, 2026 – 5:00PM 
  • Voting Period: August 3, 2026 – 9:00 AM, End: August 4, 2026 – 5:00 PM

*please note that the ‘Nomination period’ and the ‘Campaign prep period’ also counts as part of the ‘pre-campaign’ period for regulation purposes.


Voting Period

Voting will take place from August 3, 2026 – 9:00 AM, End: August 4, 2026 – 5:00 PM.

Voting will take place by online vote only. You can vote via the link that will be sent to your @myumanitoba.ca email address at the start of the voting period. Please check your junk mail if you do not receive the voting email on Monday morning.
